About this Page and Other Details

This page is intended to be a repository for details and updates regarding the three FFXV AU series that I'm writing on AO3.This is also a space to practice with carrd's layouts and come up with new ideas in the tool's functionality.Put them both together? Win-win scenario! All of the section headers are screenshots made by me. Either they came from one of my playthroughs of Final Fantasy XV, or they were taken specifically for this page, while utilizing a set of mods. You want to check out my AO3 contents? Updates

Sept 16, 2025:
Updated the status of several fics.

Jan 20, 2025:
New snippet added.

Jan 19, 2025:
I added some anchor-based navigation to get through the snippets a little easier.
I also made some structural changes to the site to make it a little easier to edit on my end. Broke large containers out into smaller ones, etc etc.

Dec 27, 2024:
I decided that I needed to even out the top nav. While it looks fine on desktop, I started thinking that it looks akward on mobile with five items. So I'm creating a page of snippets that I've posted of my WIPs and collecting them from tumblr.
When a fic that a WIP snippet belonged to gets published, I'll pull it from that page, as well.

The Insurgent King

Though Insomnia fell, it did so without bloodshed. Now the 'jewel' in Niflheim's crown of war, they control the city and its people. Nearly a decade later, the Kingdom of Lucis is no more. That is, unless, you ask the people about the so-called Insurgent King that operates from its shadows. This AU takes place 9 years after Niflheim occupied Insomnia. Noctis is now a crime lord in the city's underground, quietly rebelling against the Imperial rule and trying to win back the throne and reclaim his right as a King of Lucis. The series is told in the style of a serial television series, ala Stargate or Lost. Many "episodes" push the main story forward, but there are the occasional 'filler' stories that add a bit more color and detail to a living, yet still fallen Insomnia.Noctis and his crew are darker. He has taken the monicker of 'The Insurgent King' that the press tried to set on him to take their power away and has adapted to living a criminal lifestyle. Additionally, as he has worn the Ring of the Lucii for a majority of these nine years, Noctis has become a powerful - yet exceedingly violent - force, wielding lost and forgotten Lucian magic that had not been seen in generations.Tumblr updates are made under the '#the insurgent king' tag.The series can be read on AO3 here.

This series is expected to have 11 stories that make up the meat of it. There are the occasional side stories that will pop up with the intention of filling in some blanks of the setting of the world.Names that are in brackets on the right are using their 'working titles,' a name created off of the real title's name, simply to keep the final titles obscure as I work through the series. This series is planned from start to finish - the only things that aren't necessarily planned are the side stories. Solus is a great example of the side stories that weren't planned from the start. As of Jan 19, 2025: Illumino needs to be completed before I can get getting Story #4 out. It is currently in progress and is nearing completion.Sept 16, 2025: Illumino is completed and story 4 is almost done!

dal segno al coda

A 16 year old Noctis abruptly woke up one morning before school. He found that he remembered an Insomnia that burned, a journey that took him and his friends across Eos, and its ending with his death on the Lucian throne to banish the darkness. While trying to find and understand the meaning behind these memories, Noctis began to realize that these were real memories and that he has to live through everything once more.Everything kicked into action, however, once he found out that he wasn't the only one to have these memories: Luna remembered her past life, as well as her death in Altissia. With this information, the pair hatch together a plan to defy their fates and find a new future for Eos - one that does not require the suffering of many. As they put their plan into motion, they uncover a lot of information about the gods, themselves, and the world around them. They also find themselves opposed by a powerful enemy.Though not yet published, this fic is one of my first Final Fantasy XV fics. However, it's a monster of a story. There are two preview stories, and once the first part is completely in the editing stage, I will start publishing this to AO3.This fic was inspired by a prompt found on the Prompt Lair on tumblr.Tumblr updates are made under the '#dal segno al coda stuff' tag.The series can be read on AO3 here.

This series has been broken into three story arcs, with an explosive conclusion happening in part 3. (This is hinted at in 'We Interrupt'.)Since the story is told, alternatingly, in Noct and Luna's POVs, an extra story - 'Colla Parte' is written to provide additional POVs to specific scenes in the story. Sometimes, another character in the scene will see or notice something that neither Noctis or Luna are able to.'Entr'acte' is a mid-point one-shot story told between parts 1 and 2, involving the situation that has come up at the end of part 1.Update, as of Jan 19, 2024: Part 1 is getting a bit of a significant revision. Once it's fully complete and handed to my beta readers, the series will begin its uploads to AO3.Parts 2 and 3 are significantly worse off in terms of completion, but the full story has been completely outlined.

Main Stories

  • Part 1 - Awakening (In progress)

  • Mid-Point - Entr'acte (In progress)

  • Part 2 - [Title Hidden] (in progress)

  • Part 3 - [Title Hidden] (in progress)

Twilight

When the Dawn returned five years ago, by some sort of miracle, Noctis Lucis Caelum had survived. No one, not even Noctis himself, understood why. However, the public would soon be told that Noctis Lucis Caelum, the 114th King of Lucis, died to bring back the dawn. When he was asked if he was sure, Noctis absolutely was. There was no need for the 'Kingdom of Lucis' to be a kingdom any longer.Twilight is named after the fading 'twilight years' that describes a person's last years of their life. Noct survived Providence, but he is left on borrowed time - something he knows well himself. He opted to instead help the people directly while living a slightly more hermit'ish lifestyle, and fell into working in carpentry to be a part of the rebuilding effort, all the while hiding his real identity as the former King of Lucis.I sought to cover themes of helping in small ways, and maintaining close friendships while being separated in long distances. The main story is done, however there are a few additional stories to add to the main story, since I can't leave well enough alone, of course. This was inspired from the rabbit hole of DIY videos on youtube.Tumblr updates are made under the '#ffxv twilight' tag.The series can be read on AO3 here.

A majority of Twilight is complete. I only have a few other short stories (and one not so short story) to finish before I can mark this series as completely finished. The most important part of this series is to read the main story before you read the extras.Update as of Dec 26, 2024: A Part to Play is about 50% done. This is going to be a relatively long extra story. It also requires a lot of research so it's a very slow going process.Another part of 'On the Job' is noted, since it's additional info for The Puzzle Box.

Other Stories

I have a variety of one-shots and non-FFXV fanfics that I've written and have been in the process of writing.Inconvenient Blessings is a one-shot 'kids say the darndest things' fic, starring Regis, Clarus, and a very young Noctis. The Barber of Insomnia is a working title for a fic that's an FFXV flavored retelling of The Barber of Seville.Helldiving is the chocobros playing the game Helldivers. It'll be shenanigans.Lots of other fun and silliness are planned. Except for my one lonely Trails fic. That's nothing but pain and sadness. I'm sorry.

Many of these are in some form of incomplete stage and just need to be finished. Except my series have taken my attention entirely.I don't expect progress on ad astra for a long time. I feel that I'm not a good enough writer to handle the concepts in it yet, but I hope to grow in my writing and actually handle it right.Random Questions is still in progress, and there's a Random Questions Reversed planned, too.

Everything all started in Steyliff. During a hunt to go back in — because they were crazy and wanted to go back into that place, for some reason — Prompto managed to find a route that they hadn’t uncovered before.“Did we come through here last time?” Noctis mumbled as he looked around. Conveniently, there weren’t any daemons, which made exploring it a little more entertaining, at least.Gladio and Ignis stayed close while Prompto just trailed in, complete with the shutter sounds of his camera. “I dunno about you guys, but this area seems really different.”“Agreed.” Ignis reached out to one of the walls. “There are some patterns worked into the stone that don’t seem to match the rest of the ruins. I daresay that these patterns appear to even deviate from what we’ve seen in other Solheim era locations.”Gladio scuffed at the ground with the toe of one of his boots. “The materials seem to be different too.”“What do you think, Noct?”Ignis tossed the question at Noctis who had stopped to set his hand on the wall. He offered a non-commital, “It’s okay,” in response. Truth be told, however, it was anything but. He could sense magic in the place, but nothing at all like anything he felt through the rest of Steyliff. It was like this specific chamber of the ruins followed its own rules, separate from anything else they had uncovered before.“Just okay?” Gladio decided to needle him for more information……except he didn’t have the chance to clarify when Prompto called out a loud, “Woah!” Noctis and Gladio glanced back.“Is that a gargoyle?!” Prompto’s immediate reaction, of course, was to take a picture. He was joined by Ignis who approached the stone. It was the base of a column and sure enough, there was an intricate gargoyle design carved into it. “This is quite unusual. Lucian architecture had pulled from stories and myths and used gargoyles in their decorations, but I believe that is a practice that began well after the fall of the Solheim civilization.”Noct snorted a laugh. Even Ignis was fascinated with the place. Sure, so what it was fascinating, but…“You didn’t sound so impressed.” Gladio asked him. He must have picked up on his apprehension. With an eyeroll, Noctis looked up at his Shield. “It’s more that things feel weird here.”“Weird?”“Yeah,” Noctis hated it when he had to clarify things like this. “It’s like… I feel something like magic, but it’s not like magic at the same time.”Gladio crossed his arms. “That doesn’t make any sense.”“You did ask.” He had it coming. Finally, Noctis scoffed a little and said, “Maybe I should say that it doesn’t feel like any magic I know. Better?”“A little.” Gladio turned his attention back to the other pair. “Iggy, any idea why this is here now?”

Not all nights were super late, though. He was fortunate to have a relatively easy day and once he got back to the room, he shed off his dirty work clothes — covered in dust and wood shavings — and took a long hot shower. Once Noct was out and in more comfortable clothing, he was in the process of figuring out his dinner when there was a knock on the door. When he got to the door and opened it, he had a short list of names to expect. It was most likely Aldis or Julian, and one of them needed an extra hand on a task that ran late. Of all of the possibilities of who could be there, however, his former Shield standing in front of him never had a chance to come up on the list. With a hiss, Noct grabbed him by the arm and dragged him into the room before shutting the door, “What the hell are you doing? You know that two of my long-time coworkers are also staying here, right?”If Gladio didn’t want to be dragged in, he wouldn’t have. He still towered over Noct. Except he just laughed and went along with it. “I was passing through Old Lestallum and couldn’t resist.”Noct still sounded testy, in spite of being glad to see his old friend. “Well, don’t let Iggy hear about it.”“He’s the one who told me you’re here.” Gladio walked across the room and looked at the pile of messy work clothes on one of the beds. The other was occupied by the familiar black dog, who currently snored away. Gladio finally dropped the plastic bag he had been carrying on the small table near the window and took a seat. “Not a bad place.”“It’s not home.” Noct said as he crossed the room and started to poke through the bag. It’s dinner, but instead of commenting on the food, he mused out loud, “I’m surprised, though. Ignis is usually super critical when I’m too lax about hiding my identity.”“You could make it easier and introduce me to them as your cousin Gladio Gar.”“No.” Noct stopped, then looked up. He sounded a lot sharper than he initially intended, but continued with it, “Don’t. That’s my thing.”Gladio leaned back with a smug grin. The chair groaned in protest at the large man’s weight from the action. “Yeah, I know.” He paused for a second, just for the timing of it. “It shouldn’t be.”“I have a good cover here.” Noct mumbled as he dropped into his own chair and opened the box to look through the food. It was a burger — he was surprised it wasn’t Cup Noodles.“It’s about as great as a baseball cap.”“It works!” Noct grabbed a fry out of the box and threw it at Gladio. He laughed as it only bounced harmlessly off his head.“Iggy told me that you’re working on the Balouve Piano?” Gladio continued without missing a beat. “As in the Balouve Piano? The same one that you—”It was important to try and look like he was more interested in making sure that the burger was fine. Sure, he grew and ate his own vegetables at his home, but he had a reputation to uphold. “Yes, that I was paraded in to play a song on for her fifteenth birthday, that piano.” Both the lettuce and tomatoes were removed and slipped onto the wrapper.

That, of course, turned the next couple of hours of the day into a reading session in the special collections again. He ran into Ignis there and was pointed in the right direction. Noctis eventually found himself settled in an armchair with a heavy, old book on Niflheim’s interests in Solheim and the power of the Astrals. The topic itself? Actually interesting! The book? Incredibly boring. The topic was so heavily related to him and everything that was happening around him that he’d have gladly read it, but how an author could mess that up so badly, he didn’t know.Which was why when he suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder, he jumped, and nearly tipped the book off of his lap and onto the floor. Noctis had fallen asleep and someone just woke him up.As his hands desperately clung to the book to keep it from finding a new resting place at his feet, he twisted around in the chair and the panic subsided a little when he realized it was Clarus. The older man had a concerned look on his face as he asked, “Noctis, are you alright?”“Yeah,” He took a deep breath and shifted slightly. “What’s up?”“Your father asked me to see if you were still here. He wants to know if you’ve had dinner yet.”Noctis laughed and shifted in his seat before he looked at the book. “No, I’ve been trying to handle some 'light' reading.” He held the book up so that Clarus could read the spine.Light.” Clarus just had to repeat the word to emphasize Noctis’ own sarcasm.Which drew a snort as Noctis looked away, “It’s probably light for Ignis, at least.”

Nyx didn’t knock when he arrived. He rarely did, and Noctis never really bothered him over it. “Special delivery for His Majesty.” He carried a box in his hand - it was a metal case of some sort.Noctis looked up from the table. He had Ignis, Gladio, and Prompto all seated with him at the sectional and they had been pouring over papers that were scattered on the table. There was a pause, then he quickly got onto his feet. He knew exactly what it was. “Oh, fantastic.”As he gestured to the table, Noctis said, “Bring it over here.” He glanced at Ignis. “It won’t mess anything up, I promise.”The case was handed over and Noctis set it on the table. He quickly opened it and was pleased with the contents.“Magic flasks?” Gladio asked as he picked one out.Noctis picked up another and passed it between his hands. “Yeah. I only had a couple in the armiger when the Imperials took Insomnia and no one could get to the others.”Prompto was surprised as Noctis tossed the one in his hands over. He caught it without issue, though. “You haven’t even used them?”Noctis focused on counting the others in the case. “Because just using what I have now isn’t very efficient. These I can prepare and store in the armiger for all of you to have access to them.”“Thank you, Nyx.” This time, Noctis stood up and faced the glaive directly before he offered a bow - one that was returned.Working with them was extremely inefficient, so I opted to not do so for now.“As he studied it, he tossed it between his hands. "This way, I can hand out some more magic to everyone else to help cover us. There should be six of them here.” Noctis quickly took a peek at the contents of the case, before he offered one up to Prompto, then to Ignis.

Later in the week, Noct found that he couldn’t finish the work he started on the keys because of the keytops.During his lessons before the fall of Insomnia, Noct never really thought about the keys he played on, not in the more critical way he thought about materials now, at any rate. He was also surprised to find that the keys weren’t a solid piece of that material, just a very small slice of it glued by a heat activated glue on top of wood.Only now did Noct notice the strange texture to the tops themselves. Aldis had removed one and handed it off for Noct to figure out the material. “I’d wager a shell or bone of some sort?” He lifted it and held it to the light. “It’s translucent enough that it can’t really be a solid resin…” A pause. Noct then looked at Aldis and handed back the fragile keytop. “Is it a shell or bone?”“Close,” Aldis said as he gingerly took the keytop away. “Older pianos often had their keys made from the tusks - something from garulas or dualhorns. More expensive pianos went for higher end materials. I’ve heard rumors of some even sourcing their keytops from behemoth horns.”“Seriously?” Noct reached for the keytop once more to take it back. He wanted to examine it again, but a lot closer this time. Sure enough, when looking at it up close like this, he could see the organic look to the material. “That’s wild.”“Newer pianos in Insomnia used plastic.” Aldis explained while Noct examined the keytop. “Over time, the war with Niflheim made it real hard to source the materials needed for anything fancier. Anything with keytops like this were absolutely a luxury item.”

Any sort of smile from Ardyn was never pleasant. It always seemed predatory. “Oh, the pleasure’s all mine, Your Highness.” He crossed back over to her again. “While I’m here, though I’m not a man of faith,” Lunafreya knew that those words were chosen specifically because she had just used them, “I have something I must ask the Oracle, as well.”She allowed a faint smile to mask the otherwise worried expression that would have been on her face. “What is it you wish to know?”“I’m quite sure that you felt it. What happened?”Lunafreya blinked slightly, then canted her head slightly and she feigned confusion. “Felt what?”“I know your connection to the Astrals is much greater than you are saying.” He leaned down to stare at her. Was he trying to make her relent and step back?Nevertheless, not only did Lunafreya stand her ground, she offered a calm retort, “I do bear a connection to the Astrals, but I am only told things as I need to know. Even as the voice for them, my involvement is with matters regarding mortal lives.”Ardyn’s gold eyes remained locked on hers. He clearly studied her, in an attempt to figure out how he was going to call her out. She could tell he knew she was dodging the answer. He simply snorted as he turned away. “Know that I don’t believe you.” Lunafreya knew that already. “I’ll just have to find what you know in other ways. Nevertheless, I’ll clear the request you made in changing your schedule to Cartanica.” A pause, then he turned to look at her as he took several steps back. “But also know that I will find out what’s going on, and you may find that it would have been far, far easier to simply tell me.”Lunafreya didn’t give him the satisfaction of an answer either way. She simply remained silent. At least, until she asked, “Is that all?”

Coming back home alone wasn’t all that unusual, and after this weekend? It wasn’t entirely unwanted. It was late afternoon by this point, and the entry, as well as the living room and kitchen ahead were draped in a pleasant, welcoming glow from the afternoon sun.Noctis locked the door and haphazardly kicked off his shoes. He was about to step up and leave them behind when, for reasons he couldn’t quite explain, he felt an urge to pick them up and put them to the side and out of the way.Despite the warmth in the room from the sunlight, there was also an emptiness that seemed to reflect well on the loneliness permeating his strange, fragmented memories. Suddenly, Noctis found himself regretting that he didn’t invite Ignis back up.On the other hand, he knew that this needed to be done alone. The suggestion that Ignis made was sound. He wasn’t sure why he hadn’t considered looking into his magic this way, but it made a lot of sense.Since the outing wasn’t anything formal, there was no need to change, as he was already in comfortable clothes. After the usual routine of coming home, he returned to the living room, settled on the floor, and rested his back against the arm of his sofa.He was pretty young when his dad first taught him about meditating on his link with the Crystal. It became a part of his early lessons since it was a great way to learn how to feel for his magic, in spite of the completely expected trials that came from teaching a young boy how to meditate. It gave him a means to help him learn how to draw it out as he needed. After the accident, once Noctis had been cleared to return to his training, he returned to it with these basics, though he found that it was much harder at the time.Once he was sure he was comfortable, Noctis drew in a deep breath. At the same time, he reached out to his magic to pull on it at the same time. Through this, he focused on the spiritual line that flowed between him and the Crystal. As he exhaled, he slowly let the magic leave him, as well. It was like a rope - he pulled on it to draw it closer, and without completely letting go, he released it enough and just focused his mind on it as it bled away from him. Only to repeat with another deep breath. We live and breathe its magic, as his dad had told him over the weekend. This wasn’t the first time Noctis had heard that phrase, either, and it most certainly won’t be the last. The message was a simple reminder: as much as air filled their lungs, magic stirred within their souls and it was an easy phrase to turn his focus to during this kind of exercise. He and his dad, like the others in their family, were intrinsically linked to the holy light of the Crystal itself. Even if his own magic was stunted, this exercise served to help him understand that it was still there. As he continued, Noctis became so focused inwardly that he no longer had a clear awareness of his surroundings. Inhale and pull the magic in. Exhale, and allow it to dwindle away once again. Not only had he begun to realize that this exercise was both easier and comforting, but it allowed him to find an awareness that he hadn’t had before. Was it because of the same thing from these memories? He just somehow knew and understood the power of the Crystal in a way he didn’t realize was possible. What truly surprised him was that, as he turned his focus onto that light that was contained within him, he was aware of traces of energy in the air around him. Nothing was very strong to pull at easily, but it was there. There was a comforting warmth with the motes of fire that he could feel, a chill in the air from the splinters of ice with a dash of tiny jolts of electricity that could send goosebumps up his arms if the sensation had been a physical one.He was somehow already aware of what to look for when feeling out the elements, despite having not gotten past that point in his training. It felt as if it had become second nature. The only answer Noctis had to all of this was that these were concepts understood by his past self - things that just couldn’t be taught. No, he started to realize that a lot of this was something that could only be learned through experience.Eventually, Noctis opened his eyes again. The world around him was now cool and dark. He must have spent hours like this. He had been wrapped up in feeling anything and everything he could while he had been opened to that mental awareness, and time in the rest of the world had continued to merrily dance along. There wasn’t any need to turn on any lights when he got home, since it was still light out, and even now, there was no real need to get up and change that. He was content to remain in the darkness. Instead, Noctis turned his attention back to the sensation of the elements that he felt during his meditation and, to his surprise, he could still feel them. With a newfound curiosity for this, Noctis decided that he would turn his attention back on the elements he could feel around him. He simply cupped his hands together in front of him and took another deep breath. He didn’t have a full explanation for what he felt. Either he still had some magical charge from his meditation - maybe he released it as cleanly as he thought - or the impression had left him far more aware of any metaphysical energies around him.Noctis closed his eyes and visualized the glow and warmth of fire. The element was always easier to find and pull on - if allowed to, fire simply wanted to burn. It wasn’t a matter of coaxing it out like the others. As he opened his eyes, he found a miracle - something he never thought he could accomplish himself.Noctis had seen his father and the glaives cup a small flame in their hands, but this had always been out of his own reach. He had been broken after the marilith attack, and this had been a problem since then. Except this time, the small, fragile, trembling flame danced within his hands. It didn’t cause any pain. In fact, it was pleasant and warm. For the first time since he had awakened into these old (new?) memories, the stress and fear that had been settled on Noctis’ shoulders washed away. He clasped his hands together - the flame was so fragile that it was easy to extinguish. He leaned forward and rested his hands against his forehead. He made a sound - somehow a sob and a laugh at the same time - as he was washed with relief. For the first time, he found something good in everything that had happened. These memories somehow helped guide him past the point of contention spurred on by crippled magic.Days ago, before everything had happened, he realized that he didn’t even have enough of a grasp to understand where to begin to do something like this. Now, for the first time since these broken memories of the future sprang into his mind, Noctis felt that he could actually do something to keep the images he saw in his mind’s eye from happening in the first place.Slowly, Noctis finally uncoiled himself from the floor and put his feet under him. He felt his joints and muscles protest from how long he was seated on the floor. He followed through with a slow and drawn out stretch to give his aching back some relief. For the first time in a long, long time, Noctis found that he just didn’t care about the pain. The rest of his evening was surprisingly pleasant. For his dinner, Noctis had leftovers from the lunch Ignis made earlier. He got his ass kicked by Prompto in the latest game they were playing online. Then, once it had grown dark and was nearly time to sleep, Noctis made sure to write his response to Luna in the notebook and hand it off to Umbra to be delivered.

Noctis knew they were being held long enough for their identities to be figured out. He settled down on the bench and set his head in his hands. They were important enough that if anyone figured out who they were - which was possible with a little bit of work - everything about this plan would fall apart.“Are you okay, Noctis?” Luna’s voice pulled him out of his thoughts and he looked up without any correction to his terrible, slouched posture.Noctis lied, “Yeah. I’m fine.” Whether she believed it or not, Luna simply set a hand on his back. He found that the gesture was surprisingly soothing, somehow.Eventually, the silence between the two was broken as Luna couldn’t contain her laughter. “I… have never had a mugshot taken before.”This got Noctis to sit up suddenly and he looked at her with his head tilted. “…you wanted to get a mugshot taken?”“No, not really.” Luna leaned back against the wall. She was seated next to Noctis on the bench. “It was just kind of…” A pause. “Neat?” She gave him a faint smile.“Neat.” Noctis repeated. He wasn’t quite sure how to take this. She rolled her eyes a touch and shrugged. “It is not every day that someone like us is arrested.” A pause. “Like a normal person.” Luna somehow sounded excited at this.“Normal people don’t get arrested,” Noct complained. He might have even sounded like he was whining. Somehow, something in either his response or tone was funny enough to get another laugh from Luna. All he could do was give her a side-eye for it.Clearly, she didn’t care. “They certainly do,” As Luna stood up, she patted Noct’s head lightly before she walked to the bars. She clamped her hands onto them and tried to peek around the corner from them.“A few years ago,” Noctis didn’t have a chance to say anything before she continued. “I read this book called The Message of the Haunted Bridge where the heroine, Faye, got a little too close to the secret, but the villain actually had a connection to the police. So to keep her out of the way long enough for his dastardly plan to kick off, he had them arrest her.”Luna turned around and leaned against the bars, still grinning. “I feel a little like her at this moment.”Noctis sat up, finally. “Except there is no villain with a dastardly plan. We just got caught somewhere we shouldn’t have been.”“Doing,” Luna added with a finger point. “Heroic deeds.”She was so confident with her response that Noctis just tilted his head back and bumped it against the wall. He couldn’t believe he was hearing this. However, at the same time, he remembered reading her messages in the journal, about how lonely she was and that there was little to do outside of her duties as Oracle while she was in her golden cage.He may have been a little confused at all of this, but at the same time, he couldn’t help but find it adorable. When Noctis mentally tuned back in, he realized that Luna was now talking about how Faye escaped her cell. With a sigh, he pushed himself up off the bench. She shouldn’t keep talking like this when someone could come in at any point and catch them.In fact, as Noctis walked up to Luna, she had already pulled a hair pin free from her braid. She quickly bent it until it broke into two pieces and then started to reshape one of the halves.“What are you doing?”“I’m going to pick the lock and get us out of here.”Noctis tilted his head. “You’re going to what?” He wasn’t sure he heard that right.Luna didn’t seem bothered by this at all. “Ravus taught me how when we were little.”“He taught you how to pick a lock.” Noctis repeated, incredulously.“He certainly did.” Luna didn’t look up as she answered, and instead jammed the half of the pin into the lock.

“Iris,” Gladio mumbled as he walked into the living room and saw her lounging on the sofa with a magazine. It looked very… off from the kind of thing she’d read. Cover lines on it included topics such as Increased Spam Calls to Insomnian Citizens Require Legislative Intervention and The Ideals of the Lucian Royalty: A Bygone Dream.“Hey, Gladdy,” she said cheerfully from behind the magazine, but yelped as he abruptly pulled it from her hands.“What’s got you reading this kind of shlock?”“What are you talking about, give that back!” It wasn’t too hard for the older of the siblings to hold the magazine out of reach.Gladio looked at the magazine to show her the cover lines, when he stopped short after glancing at it again. The cover was now different from what he had seen before. It had originally looked like some sort of business magazine, but now? It was just a local fashion magazine. He quickly flipped through the pages to make sure he was seeing things. When he convinced himself that he was, in fact, imagining it, he just tossed it back onto Iris’ lap.“What’s gotten into you, Gladio?” Iris sat up on the sofa as she snatched the magazine into a hand.Gladio rubbed at the side of his head. “I’m not sure. Today’s been a very odd day.”

That chill ran down his spine again as the swordsman looked towards his advisor. Somehow, despite not being able to actually see his eyes, Noctis just knew that he could tell where the man was looking. This meant that somehow - impossibly - this man had magic. To make matters worse, it was somehow resonating with his own.“You’re impossible,” Noctis mumbled softly, as he started to make some connection over this black haired, black leather clad stranger. This drew the attention of the swordsman and this time, Noctis felt like his breath had simply been taken from him. All of that magic he could feel was turned on him in an instant.“Am I?” As the swordsman approached, Noctis began to feel his legs buckle again. It was not from a physical force this time, but instead the sheer overwhelming presence that buried itself into the very core of his being.Noctis just wanted to shout for Luna and Ignis to stay away! Stay far away! However, he found himself frozen within the stranger’s overwhelming power and he was unable to even speak a single word.Once he was near Noctis, the masked swordsman settled onto a knee and reached out with a gloved hand to gently wrap leather-clad fingers around Noctis’ chin and force the prince to look up at him. Noctis fought hard to keep his eyes forward and not recoil under the magic being pressed against him.“I’m not the one who is out of time,” the swordsman’s words were heavy and cleanly punctuated.Of course, Noctis thought angrily to himself. Of course he knows.
